SPE: Driving Change-Greening Hospitality

Service Description
COMING SOON: Students will learn about trends in greening hospitality-from greening menus, designing community gardens, to circularity and waste management including food, packaging, cultery, reducing resource, energy and water usage, and engaging consumers on sustainable practices. Students will have the opportunity to visit a hospitality space and engage in a “designing the waste out of hospitality” challenge. For 50-60 students. Schedule: 10:00 am Arrival 10:15 am to 11:00 am Hospitality space tour 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Introduction and mind mapping sustainability challenges in the food and hospitality sector 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm Lunch 12:45 pm to 2:00 pm The Cool Foods Hackathon-Generating new ideas and solutions to reduce food waste, healthy eating and menu design, expanding access and exploring food connections in the hospitality sector 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Student Presentations and Conclusion 3:00 pm to 3:15 pm Return to School

Cancellation Policy
SHSM certification workshops can be cancelled up to 14 days before the scheduled event. SHSM SPEs can also be cancelled up to 14 days before the scheduled workshop as per the booking venue policy. Any deposits and fees to be paid/returned will be determined as per the venue policy for the SPEs. Where possible, a credit may be provided and the event rescheduled. Any changes to the number of students attending the certification workshop or SPE must be made up to 14 days before the scheduled event.
