SPE for the Business, Non-Profit, Social Justice, and Environment SHSMs
Service Description
SPE 1: Business for Good (2 locations-University of Toronto Mississauga OR Greenhouse, University of Waterloo; For Large Groups; Discount available at University of Waterloo for Event Space) In Partnership with University of Toronto Mississauga, ICube and GreenHouse, University of Waterloo's Social Impact Incubator To enable the business, non-profit, social justice, and environment SHSM students to explore social innovation. Students will engage in an entrepreneurship hackathon designing a venture to address one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Students will have the opportunity to learn about pitching from experts before their presentations and meet current university entrepreneurs as part of the reach ahead opportunity. Hosted either at University of Toronto, Mississauga or at the University of Waterloo. For 50-60 students. Lunch options or catering available (additional cost). Schedule: 9:45 am Arrival 10:00 am to 10:30 am Tour 10:45 am to 12:00 pm Challenge Introduction and Group Work 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm Lunch 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm How to Pitch/Meet the Entrepreneurs 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm Student Presentations 2:45 pm Departure SPE 2: The Climate Entrepreneur (1 location-MaRS Discovery District; For Smaller Groups; Discount available at MaRS Discovery District for Educational Events) In Partnership with MaRS Discovery District, Toronto To enable the business, non-profit, social justice, and environment SHSM students to explore green entrepreneurship. Students will engage in an entrepreneurship hackathon designing a venture to address one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals connected to climate change. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the MaRS innovation hub and the support offered to entrepreneurs as they scale their ventures. Hosted at the MaRS Discovery District, Toronto. For 20-60 students. Lunch options or catering available (additional cost). Cancellation Policy
SHSM certification workshops can be cancelled up to 14 days before the scheduled event. SHSM SPEs can also be cancelled up to 14 days before the scheduled workshop as per the booking venue policy. Any deposits and fees to be paid/returned will be determined as per the venue policy for the SPEs. Where possible, a credit may be provided and the event rescheduled. Any changes to the number of students attending the certification workshop or SPE must be made up to 14 days before the scheduled event.
