euSEND is a matchmaker and portfolio manager for public-private research & development consortia in the area of neglected diseases, with the aim to create pragmatic solutions to alleviate the societal and economic burden of (most) neglected diseases.
A unique feature of the PPE model is the broad consortium. The consortium not only enables euSEND to share and mitigate risk, it is also crucial to its ability to develop not just treatments but solutions. The solutions draw on the expertise of many different players, not used to mutual collaboration.
euSEND brings together:
•pharma companies (compound libraries, development and manufacturing expertise);
•biotech SMEs (with promising technologies and venturing experience);
•medical devices companies (imaging, engineering, diagnostics);
•academia (strong international research groups in relevant areas); and
•NGOs (local knowledge).
